Viitals Introduces Tree Nuts To Its Foods

Since its founding Viitals, as specialty foods company, has become well-known for the fact that it is one of the very few companies in the local food arena currently that offers to its customers foods that are free of most major food allergens.

This policy of Viitals has not been favorable to a large majority of our customers, who do not necessarily have issues, so complex, which require total avoidance of all major food allergens.

Based on this realization, the we’ve decided to introduce certain tree nuts to our foods, such as almonds, walnuts, macadamia nuts. Currently Viitals foods are NOT free of tree nuts due to the fact that we use ingredients, derived from coconut, such as organic coconut palm sugar, organic coconut flour and organic coconut flakes. Coconut is classified as tree nut.

At present we are planning on introducing tree nuts mostly in new formulations. Most importantly, we are committed to remaining a peanut-free facility – of all nuts peanuts are most closely related to severe nut allergies.

Having said that, we ought to make the public aware of the fact that we will process tree nut-containing foods on shared equipment. Therefore there is possibility of cross-contamination.  Persons with severe allergies to all tree nuts may not be safe consuming Viitals foods..

In summary, at Viitals we consider that introducing tree nuts brings about benefits for nearly all customers. Benefits that far outweigh any rare, but still possible scenarios where our foods may be prohibitive for certain customers, experiencing severe tree nut allergies.

We strongly believe this step will mainly enhance the quality and health benefits of our food offerings, health benefits which our customers have come to value immensely.
